Top Navigation and Maps Apps in Kenya: Q3 2024 Performance

In the third quarter of 2024, the top navigation and maps applications in Kenya, according to Sensor Tower data, demonstrated varying trends in downloads and active user engagement on a unified platform.

GPS Satellite View: Live Maps from Sleek Mobile App saw fluctuating weekly downloads, starting at approximately 9.1K in early July and tapering to around 6K by the end of September. The app maintained a strong base of active users, increasing from 33.9K to a peak of 41.8K mid-September before settling at 40.9K by the month's end.

Google Maps experienced a steady weekly download pattern, beginning with about 3K in July and slightly increasing to over 3.9K in early September, before a slight decrease to 3.2K by the end of the quarter. The app consistently engaged a large number of active users, with figures rising from 87.8K to a peak of 94.6K in early September, ending the quarter with 93.7K active users.

Radar - Speed Camera Detector showed a dynamic download trend, starting at 1.1K and peaking at 4K mid-September, before closing the quarter at 1.9K. The active user base grew from 1.9K in early July to a high of 5.1K mid-September, concluding the quarter with 3.8K active users.

GPS Maps Navigation Live Map displayed a declining trend in downloads, beginning with 2.5K and ending at 504 by late September. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 15.9K and 17.8K throughout the quarter, ending at 15.2K.

Lastly, Radar Map, Radar Detector, HUD observed a significant increase in downloads, starting at 608 and reaching 5.1K by late September. The app also saw a rise in active users, growing from 5.6K in early July to approximately 11.7K mid-September, finishing the quarter with 10.3K active users.
